The Golden Child of Steroids Has Lost Its Glimmer
Known as the cream of the crop in the steroid
market, Methandienone was introduces
back in the 1960 and was all the rage among the bodybuilding set for the next
twenty to thirty years. With the drug
widely available in bodybuilding circles, one would be hard pressed to find a
professional bodybuilder from that era who did not give the little blue pill a
try.
It is interesting to note, however, that the
popularity of the substance may have likely caused its demise. With word of steroid abuse running rampant in
the late 80’s and early 90’s and horror stories of their ill effects, the Food
and Drug Administration banned the sale and use of the drug and others like it and declared it an illegal
substance.
Known for its ability to produce immense muscle
mass in an extremely short period of time, Methandienone,
has been shown to increase muscle
production by up to 20 pounds over a typical two month cycle. In addition, Methandienone increases protein amalgamation, allows users to renew
glycogen stores at a faster rate and increases strength in a very brief
period. Furthermore, the drug, which
works almost immediately, is a complimentary addition to injectable substances
that require a longer timeframe to show effects.
While Methandienone
is very effective for athletes in strength related sports such as weight
lifting and bodybuilding, it is not suggested for athletes who require a large
aerobic capacity. The drug has been
shown to cause a dramatic reduction in cell respiration. Other side negative effects, which normally
occur in users taking high levels of the drug (30 to 40 mg / day), include
acne, male pattern baldness and extreme anger.
In addition, because of the potential for liver toxicity, failure and
even cancer, it is recommended that users abide by the dosing of no more than
two month cycles.
On the positive side, because the drug does not
have the high androgenic component that is found in other steroids, when taken in
the normal usage range it does not create the extreme hormonal side effects such as
male breast development. In addition,
users do not have to be as concerned about an unwanted shutdown of normal
hormone manufacture.
While Methandienone
has the distinct honor of being one of the most effective steroids ever
produced, and creates the most muscle
mass in the shortest amount of time, its is important to consider its negative
and sometimes irreversible side effects.
In addition, its illegal status in the United
States and Canada should make people think
twice before using this powerful supplement.
Furthermore, given the stringent and regular testing for performance
altering substances by professional as well as amateur sports associations, an
athlete found to be using this drug could risk not only criminal prosecution,
but also be banned from their sport for a lifetime.
With so many safe alternatives on the market, it is
strongly recommended that athletes look to other sources to help them gain the
bulk the need to effectively compete in their given sports.
